FOCUSING ON STRENGTH, AGILITY & SKILL
PREPARE | PERFORM | PREVAIL
At the Wollongong Mustangs American Football Academy, we follow a simple but powerful philosophy: Prepare. Perform. Prevail. From day one, we prepare our young athletes with the skills, knowledge, and mindset they need to succeed. Like a mustang that learns to navigate the wild, our athletes are taught to move with focus, agility, and purpose. As they grow, we emphasize performing under pressure, building their confidence and ability to execute when it counts. When challenges arise, they learn to prevail. Just as a mustang adapts and thrives in the toughest environments, our athletes become stronger, more resilient, and ready for the next level of their American football journey.

MUSTANGS AMERICAN FOOTBALL ACADEMY
The Mustangs are calling in a new herd of athletes for the 2026 Mustangs Academy, building on an inaugural program that has already produced state representatives and, in 2026, Australian Under 15s selections in American football. Many Academy graduates have gone on to represent New South Wales and have recently been named in the Australian Under 15’s team, proving that local athletes can compete on the national stage in both flag and tackle formats.
Following an outstanding 2025 season for the club, which saw Academy alumni starring in the Harbour Bowl Under 15 Champions team and driving the Colts all the way to the Kookaburra Bowl, the Mustangs are now looking for the next generation of players who want to learn American football in flag or tackle, while getting into peak fitness.
“Our first Academy proved that if you give young athletes the right coaching and environment, they don’t just keep up – they lead,” said Jordy Stalker, Mustangs Director of Player Development. “We’ve already seen Academy players pull on state colours and Australian jerseys, and 2026 is about finding the next group who want to join that stampede.”
With the Mustangs Men’s team back in 2026 and plans underway for an inaugural Mustangs Women’s Flag team, the Academy now sits at the heart of the club’s pathway from juniors through to senior women’s and men’s American football. The 2026 program will feature two streams: a NEXT GEN program (13-15) for emerging athletes and an ELITE stream for ages 16 through to senior level, designed to prepare players to step straight into competitive flag or tackle football. Men and women are strongly encouraged to apply.
